TIlE GAMBOLER

On a cold summer evening at a gas and go near Emabarrass
I met a HOBO rider. He said his name was Joe.
We got to swapping stories about chasing paper dinner plates,
And then I had to ask him why he was out. so late.

Well he kind of hemmed and hawed and he said “Rea11y it was Irene
Said that we could find that number 5 if we just looked some more.
‘cause we’d both seen Lois ride away a whoopin”
I said let me tell you something while walk in to the store.

I said “ WeII I‘ve seen Lois ride away and ‘whoopin
When she aint found that station, but just because she is so nice
You just cant imagine that she could he so devious
So listen close my friend and let me give you some advise.

You got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold’ern,
Know when to ride away at a dead run.
You never let anybody know if you did or didnt find it
Thereli he time enough for tellin, when  the ride is done.

Now ev’ry rider knows that the secret to surviving
Is knowing when to ride awav and knowing when to stay
‘cause sometimes youre on the station, but still there ain’t no dinner plate
That’s the best that you can hope for at the end of the day.

Well 1 paid for my diesel. and climbed back in my pickup
Jammed it into first gear and headed down the street.
Joe was still inside the store, wanderin’ round aimless.
But on a shelf finally found a plate that he could keep.

You got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold’ern,
Know when to ride away at a dead run.
You never let anybody know if you did or didnt find it
Thereli he time enough for tellin, when  the ride is done.

You got to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold’ern,
Know when to ride away at a dead run.
You never let anybody know if you did or didnt find it
Thereli he time enough for tellin, when  the ride is done.

You got to know when to hold 4em. know when to fold eni.
Know when to ride away at a dead run.
You never let anbody know ifyou did or didn’t find it
There’ll be time enough for telling’, when the ride is done.
